Quests Made Simple

These are some reasons why you should be stressed(a little bit) about academics

Hey dear reader! Hope you are doing great.

As the title says, we should be concerned about our academic growth. Don’t get me wrong, Academics isn’t the only way you can succeed but it has been tested over the years and the statistics show that building a career over doing good in academics is a much safer pathway.

Let me share my story with you.

Back in 2020, the “earn money online” “develop your skills” etc terms were popping off. These were being promoted so much that one time I wondered if doing the school’s homework actually helped in the long run.

Indeed, most of the theoretical lessons that we learn in schools will not be useful in the future. And in 2020, I also concluded that I should focus on developing skills and starting an online business type thing. [I tried some, but they failed, we will talk about that in further articles I guess]. Oh, and I am from an Asian family so after a while when schools reopened, and my grades dropped [as I was focusing on developing my coding + video editing + different other skills rather than focusing on academics] I started getting pressured by the family.

Then, I started to think if these skills were really for me. Okay, there were some other factors behind me not getting to master the skills for example- I didn’t have a good pc for video editing. Anyway, I started to find enthusiasm for doing better in academics again. Now, I am known as “the guy who pulled off the academic comeback” in the class.

I want to say that, in the new wave of promoting “skill development” and stuff, it is really easy to overlook the benefits of academics. But in the long run, it is the most safe way of getting into a career path. I am not saying everyone needs to follow the safer paths. People should take risks cause high risk, high reward. But we need to figure out the risk-reward ratio and we should research well if what I am trying to be good at is actually for me.

Lastly, I would like to say, that you should develop skills. It is important. I always encourage people to participate in extra-curricular activities. But assure your academic backup first.

This is it. See you in the next article 🙂
